RAM Windows & Doors

Inside a Northwest Austin Home Built for Connection

07 August 2025

Some homes feel good the moment you walk in. It’s the way the light moves through the space, the sense of calm, and the way rooms feel connected to each other and to the outside. That’s exactly the kind of experience created in this Northwest Austin home, built by Austin Built by Design and styled by Allie Self of The Studio Next Door.

From the start, the design centered around openness and ease. The main living area is framed by a four-panel sliding glass door that leads out to the backyard, dissolving the boundary between indoors and out. In the kitchen, a two-panel sliding door provides a second access point to the patio, ideal for weekend breakfasts or a quiet morning with the doors open and a breeze coming through.

Throughout the home, RAM casement and picture windows create rhythm and bring in natural light without overwhelming the architecture. Slim, modern profiles keep views clean and uninterrupted, while horizontal grid patterns add a subtle graphic element that plays beautifully with the home’s modern finishes.

One of the quiet standouts in this project is the garage. Often an afterthought, here it’s been elevated through thoughtful design choices, including the use of RAM picture windows. Bringing natural light into the garage not only enhances its functionality, but also supports the home’s cohesive aesthetic from every angle. Whether it’s used for parking, storage, or as a flexible workspace, the garage feels like an extension of the home, not an afterthought.

Interior designer Allie Self brought it all together with an eye for warmth and texture—soft wood tones, earthy materials, and timeless details that allow the home to feel lived-in, but elevated. RAM products complement her vision by letting in the kind of light that brings everything to life, quietly supporting each space.

This project is a great example of how custom windows and doors don’t just frame views, they shape the way a home feels. And when they’re placed with intention, like they are here, they help create the kind of everyday moments you want to slow down for.
