Chase Daniel doesn’t just photograph spaces, he captures the atmosphere and emotion that bring them to life.
Chase is an Austin-based architectural and interior photographer with a background in design. After earning his degree from Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture + Design, he moved to Austin and began working as a designer at the renowned Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. But during his off-hours, he found himself drawn to the lens—documenting spaces in a way that felt personal and powerful. Three years later, Chase turned that passion into a full-time photography business.
“I really enjoy photographing intentionally designed spaces,” he tells us. “It’s not about the budget or size, but how the space makes you feel when you’re in it. I like my photography to bring out that feeling with the viewer.”
That emotional resonance comes through in the details. Whether it’s the bold texture of a powder bath or the soft interplay of natural light across a quiet kitchen, Chase’s images highlight the character of a home without overwhelming the viewer. He often turns off all artificial lights during a shoot, allowing daylight from windows and doors to do the storytelling.
“Windows play a huge role in how soft or bright a room feels. I like my imagery to feel very natural.”
When asked for a photography tip, Chase suggests focusing less on capturing everything, and more on capturing the right thing. “Shooting with a wider lens is not always better. Focusing the viewer’s eye on a particular detail can make for a stronger composition.”
One of his favorite recent projects? A vibrant new restaurant on Austin’s East Side called Bambino, where color, texture, and natural light came together in perfect harmony.
